The Civil Oversight Council at the State Bureau of Investigation will include 15 persons who will work free of charge. This is stipulated by the decree № 1086 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 20, 2017, according to the Government Portal.
Thus, the State Bureau of Investigation will be formed on the basis of an open and transparent competition by preferential voting during the constituent assembly. The leadership will be elected at the first meeting.
Each public association delegates only one person to the competition. Members of public councils in other law enforcement agencies are not allowed to participate in the competition.
The Council, in particular, will be informed about the activities of the State Bureau of Investigation; carry out an analysis of the tasks; prepare proposals on public consultations; take part in parliamentary hearings on the activities of the State Bureau of Investigation, and will also have the right to form permanent and temporary working bodies – commissions, expert groups, etc.
